Close to where I live there is an open air museum,  open to public only once a year. I made a drawing of this farmer sitting in the sun and telling stories about the old days to the crowd.

Head Drawing and Procedure

Here is another drawing copied from the book Drawing the Head and Hands by Andrew Loomis. I took pictures with my mobile phone of some stages of the drawing. The paper is white but somehow appears gray on the camera. I like the feel of the Hahnemuhle nostalgie paper in combination with charcoal pencils.

Drawing the Head and Hands

This is a charcoal drawing copied from "Drawing the Head and Hands" by Andrew Loomis. I got the book last year as a Christmas present and I've been drawing and learning(!) a lot since I started reading.

Pencil Portrait

Instead of only posting for Illustration Friday on this blog, I thought I could post some other drawings as well. I love drawing heads from life, photographs or imagination. This one is from a still image on TV. 2B pencil on printer paper.

TV Portrait sketch

This is a sketch from a still image on the TV. I just sat down with my laptop, tablet and sketchbook pro in front of the TV and started drawing.

I then quickly colored the sketch with the copic markers in sketchbook.  It's amazing how fast you can turn out sketches with this setup.
